Networking improving Europe's environment

All EEA member countries and other collaborating countries share their environmental information through the Internet. The eEIONET network will now be expanded to Croatia and a new nfp-hr.eionet.eu.int server will be installed for that purpose.

The European Commission and Finsiel have signed a contract for the provision of the following services before 28 February 2003.

• Extension of the eEIONET (EIONET telematic network) to Croatia. This expansion will be done using the same specifications as the original network and its extension to the other Phare countries and will follow a similar development.
• Provision of services to Bosnia-Herzegovina, F.Y.R. of Macedonia and Croatia to help develop the implementation of the network, install the latest communication, data and information exchange tools (CIRCA), and provision of a helpdesk during the project period.
• Organisation of on site system administration and user training for Croatia.
• Dissemination of the best practice in the use and application of the telematics network;
• Assistance to set up and develop the national environmental portal Web sites.
