Introduction to ROD+CDR+CR

Released on 2002-10-25

We have today released ROD, CDR and CR as an integrated set of services for the EIONET community.

The Reporting Obligations Database is a is a tool at EEA that helps member countries to co-ordinate and to supervise their international reporting. In the current version, it gives an overview of the following:

  • Which country has to report what?
  • When is the deadline?
  • Has the data been delivered?
  • Who was responsible for delivering?
We have made ROD available, but it doesn't yet contain all obligations. We will take care of this in the coming months.

The reason ROD is available is due to the Central Data Repository (CDR) and the impending deliveries. If you want to use ROD to check that a delivery has been made for an obligation, then the deliveries must be tagged with the obligation they pertain to. Currently we have made this possible for the 11 EEA priority dataflows. The rest will come when all obligations are registered in ROD.

The tool for discovering the deliveries is the Content Registry (CR). It is a metadata harvester. You can use ROD to see the deliveries harvested by CR, and in CR itself there is a more generic user interface to do other searches.
