Introducing notifications
Released on 2006-02-10Lots of work-relevant things happen in Eionet. Until now it has been difficult to track it all because Eionet is a large collection of websites. We have decided to do something about that and have implemented the Unified Notification Service. This is a one-stop shop where you can maintain your subscriptions in one central location on announcements in Eionet.
What you can subscribe to
We are going to add the subscription to all Eionet websites and some selected general environment sites, and you can already subscribe to:
- ROD - approaching deadlines
- Eionet headlines
- News from the Eionet topic centres
- News from the Indicator Management System
- News and announcements from EEA
General environmental interest
- Presseportal.de - Umwelt (Environment)
- EarthWire UK News
- Environment News Service (Global)
How to subscribe
You click to uns.eionet.eu.int. The you login with your Eionet account name. If this is your first time you have no subscriptions already. There will be a button saying "Subscribe". Click on it. You will now see a list of channels - as we call them you can subscribe to.
Select the one you are interested in, by clicking on the link. You will then see a form asking for your preferences. It will ask for your Jabber address and WDB address. These are for features we'll announce later. Just check the checkbox saying you want the notification as email, and click subscribe. That is all.
One more thing: If you decide you for a while don't want notifications, during your vacation, for instance. You can stop them in the "My preferences" tab. just click "Enable vacation flag".
