This folder contains PRA.MS: Preliminary Risk Assessment Model for the identification and assessment of problem areas for Soil contamination in Europe. If you want to use this product, you must abide by the Terms of Use document, listed below. Notice; the terms are different from most other software distributed by EEA on this website.

Agreement for the use of the PRA.MS products

These Terms of Use and Agreement regulate the access to and the use of datasets/applications/maps/graphs/documentation/working reports produced by the European Environment Agency (EEA) during the PRA.MS project (Preliminary Risk Assessment Model for the identification and assessment of problem areas for Soil contamination in Europe) - here referred to as “PRA.MS products”.

The EEA has a policy of open and easy access to the data, information and applications derived from the activities described in its management plan.

This agreement covers the use of data sets holding data directly collected by the EEA or derived from other sources. Access to the original datasets produced by third parties in other projects should be obtained directly from the copyright holders.

The EEA requires users to sign an agreement form before granting access to the PRA.MS products, subject to the terms and conditions specified below.

Access is granted free provided that the user agrees:

  1. not to pass the PRA.MS products to third parties without written permission from the EEA;
  2. not to use the PRA.MS products for commercial purposes;
  3. to acknowledge the source and display the link to the authors of texts and applications (EEA) or data provider (EEA or any other data provider). For all freely available EEA data/applications/maps/graphs the acknowledgement should read: “© EEA, Copenhagen, <production year>”.
  4. to help improve the quality of the products by noting and reporting any errors or omissions discovered;
  5. to help improve the quality of the software applications by giving feedback on functionalities, packaging and documentation;
  6. to help improve the co-ordinated use of products by informing EEA about applications which use the PRA.MS products;
  7. to help improve the efficiency of environmental reporting by supplying EEA with documented digital copies of data/maps/graphs and information derived from the PRA.MS products and EEA data/maps/graphs, so that they can be re-used by EEA with reference to the source;
  8. to supply EEA with a copy of/URL to all publications and other products based on the PRA.MS products.

The material provided is not necessarily comprehensive, complete, accurate or up to date; the software is not fully operational; the datasets included in the package are only for testing and demonstration purposes; the documentation may not reflect the latest developments in terms of scope and functionalities of the applications. The material may contain links to external sites over which the EEA services have no control and for which the EEA assumes no responsibility. Our goal is to keep information, applications and services we provide timely and accurate. If errors are brought to our attention, we will try to correct them.

Neither the European Environment Agency, the European Commission or other European Community institutions, nor any person or company acting on their behalf is responsible for the use, which may be made of the products provided. The contents of the products do not necessarily reflect the official opinions of the European Community, its institutions or the international organisations and individual countries involved in preparing these products.

The designations employed and the presentation of material in this product do not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of the European Community or the European Environment Agency concerning the legal status of any country, territory, city or area or its authorities.

In no event shall EEA be liable for any special, indirect or consequential damages or any damages whatsoever resulting from loss of use, data or profits, whether in an action of contract, negligence or other tortuous action, arising out of or in connection with the use or performance of software, documents, provision of or failure to provide services, or information made available by the EEA.
