ETC/BD Report 1/2018: Supporting elements for the second Natura 2000 seminar for Continental, Pannonian, Black Sea and Steppic regions

This document was prepared in support to the second Natura 2000 seminar for Continental, Pannonian, Black Sea and Steppic regions. This process aims at facilitating exchanges on measures necessary to achieving favourable conservation status of species and habitats of Community interest, with special attention to the management and coherence of the Natura 2000 network. It involves Member States, key user groups, NGOs and independent experts from a same biogeographical region or marine region. The document provides 1) an updated assessment and scoring of 59 habitats habitats which had been selected for priority discussion during the Continental, Pannonian, Black Sea and Steppic regions seminar in 2015, 2) an explanation on a proposed methodology to identify “Low hanging Fruits” habitats ( i.e. habitats for which an improvement of the conservation status could be reached rapidly, as well as results of testing the methodology in the Continental, Pannonian, Black Sea and Steppic regions.
