“transferIT”, new service to transfer large files

Our new service, https://transferit.eea.europa.eu, is ready to give you a simple and enhanced experience while sending any large file to the other recipients. This service is open to public and all users with Eionet credentials can benefit from it.

How to send a file

  • Logging in: Once you are on the site, you shall log-in with your Eionet credentials to access the service and start sending files.
  • Add the email address(es): You can type in any number of target emails or paste your email distribution list (space or comma separated). There are no limitations on the number of emails that you may want to add. If you want to send an email to an Eionet role mail (functional account), please contact helpdesk@eionet.europa.eu
  • Add a customised message (optional): You can insert any message that you want your recipients to receive. Note that this field is not mandatory, and you can leave it unedited.
  • Upload your files: You can drag & drop or just click on ‘+’ to upload your files. Moreover, you can organize your files with a folders structure, add a Word document, Excel spreadsheet, PowerPoint presentation or text file on the go and start to edit it online. If you do not want to send the files to the recipients via this site, you can navigate to the ‘…’ on this right upper side of this field and copy the Direct link and send this link separately (please note: the default retention time will still apply). There are no limitations on the file size.
  • Set your retention time: You can choose a retention time either for 10 (default), 30 and 90 days.
  • Create a password (optional): You can set up a password if you would like to. You can accept the system’s proposed password or impose your custom one.

After completing these steps, your file(s) are ready to be sent, click on: 'Send'

Once your recipients receive the link via email, the files can be downloaded either selectively or all at once in .zip format on to their workstations.

The new service is already operational, and it will replace the glorious https://transfer.eionet.europa.eu/; the old service will be discontinued on day 11th of May 2021 and a redirection to transferIT will be activated.
