Profile 2018 - 2020
Rationale
- To provide Europe's decision-makers and citizens with the independent information they need to make informed choices about the environment
- To raise awareness on the environment by communicating messages on the European environment in a transparent, understandable way to as broad an audience as possible
- To increase the profile of the Agency and Eionet as being the key providers of timely, targeted, relevant and reliable information on Europe's environment

Expected input and contributions from the NRC in 2018 - 2020
- To support pan-European cooperation on environmental information and communication actively
- To represent national interests on environmental information and communication within the European network
- To exchange best communication practices with colleagues
- To support developing of EEA strategies (corporate and communication) and operational system for communication
- To support communication on pan-European information products developed at EEA, e.g. via:
- providing feedback on reception of EEA products at national level from government, stakeholders, media etc. (SOER, …)
- arranging national events around EEA products
- adding a national angle to EEA material to maximise relevance for a local/regional audience
- helping to disseminate EEA news via national web-site, national media, etc.
- identifying and transmitting national needs (e.g. numbers and national language requirements) for EEA products (e.g. publications)
- providing support to linguistic or translation issues (depending on division of tasks within country)
- promoting EEA’s outreach competitions and activities
- To support the national policy process by:
- providing national decision-makers and citizens with the independent information they need to make informed choices about the environment
- To raise awareness on the European environment by communicating EEA messages in a transparent, understandable way to as broad an audience as possible
- To increase the Agency’s profile and its network as being the key providers of timely, targeted, relevant and reliable information on Europe's environment
- To contribute to identifying challenges in communicating environmental issues in Europe and assessing the role of communications in the EU policy making and implementation.
- To ensure that any country based links and general information on the EEA country pages are maintained
