NRC on Mitigation of air pollution and climate change

Profile 2018 - 2020

Rationale

The NRC on 'Mitigation of Air Pollution and Climate Change' underpins the reporting by the EU Member States and other EEA member countries of air pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) data, in relation to the EU National Emissions Ceilings (NEC) Directive (2016/2284/EU), the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe  Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution and its protocols, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the EU climate Monitoring Mechanism Regulation No 525/2013, the Energy Union Governance, etc.

The NRC is also required to further support the EEA's continuing development of air pollution and GHG assessments and indicators, to identify challenges and solutions in order to achieve medium and long-term policy objectives, in coordination with other NRCs where relevant, in particular the NRC on ‘Environment and Energy’.
