NRC on Noise

Profile 2018 - 2020

Rationale

The Noise NRC will support the EEA’s activities on environmental noise, including on related noise assessments and indicators The NRC will be a contact point for, and have an overview of, noise mapping and action planning within the country, as well as reporting by the EEA member countries of noise data in relation to the Environmental Noise Directive 2002/49/EC (END).

Expertise

    • Assessment of noise environments and evaluation of trends
    • Data and reporting requirements under the END
    • Knowledge of modelling techniques (noise mapping)
    • Knowledge of noise action planning
    • Effects of noise on human health and well-being, as well as impacts on land and marine based ecosystems

    Policy processes to be supported
