NRC on Water emission

Profile 2018 - 2020

Rationale

This NRC covers both pollution emissions from point sources (wastewater treatment plants, and industrial discharges) and from diffuse sources (in particular loads related to agricultural activities).  The NRC emissions include also aspects on chemicals including priority/emerging substances and river basin specific pollutants.

Expertise

    • Emissions to water including nutrients and chemicals
    • Pressures on water environment from point and diffuse sources
    • Monitoring – Data – Information data
    • Preparation for all water emission issues and chemical data flows

    Policy processes to be supported

    • Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive (UWWTD)
    • Priority substances / Environmental Quality Standards Directive
    • Directive on industrial emissions (IED)
    • E-PRTR

Expected input and contributions from the NRC in 2018 - 2020

    • Provide inputs and comments on EEA waters assessments
    • Support review of the CSI 24 and future water emission indicators
    • Report and/or maintain links to the country reporters on the UWWTD, EPRTR and possible information collection under PS (EQS) directive.
