FOR THE ATTENTION OF THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS
AND THE AUTHORIZED WISE DATA PROVIDERS FOR THE DRINKING
WATER DIRECTIVE

Subject:      WISE Reporting - Drinking Water Directive

According to Article 13 of the Drinking Water Directive 98/83/EC, Member States have the obligation to send a report every three years on the quality of water intended for human consumption.

For the reporting period 2017 – 2019, we invite you to report your national drinking water data by the date 28 February 2021 as set in the Directive.

Please find below details on the data delivery for the reporting period 2017 – 2019:

As in previous years, please report by uploading data via Reportnet[1] (the European Environment Agency's electronic infrastructure for data collection). Previous submissions are in your national folder in the Central Data Repository (CDR)[2].

The guidance document on how to use Reportnet under the Drinking Water Directive is available at the Eionet Forum[3].

The reporting template remains unchanged and is available at the Eionet Data Dictionary[4].

Data requirements remain unchanged as compared to the previous period. The guidance document on reporting is available at the Eionet Forum[5].

The EEA and the Commission will be supported by a contractor that will assist in the verification of the completeness of the submitted data. You may therefore be contacted in the case of questions on completeness of your data by our contractor.

To ensure access to Reportnet, please check the nominations of your DWD reporters[6] and update them, if needed. Changes and updates in contact details of the reporters should be sent by Eionet National Focal Points to the DWD Helpdesk - dwd.helpdesk@eionet.europa.eu.

In addition, you are invited to upload on Reportnet and to send us a link to your national drinking water reports for the period 2017-2019. Those reports had to be published by the Member States within one calendar year of the end of the reporting period to ENV-DRINKING-WATER@ec.europa.eu.

In case technical difficulties with Eionet web services, please contact DWD Helpdesk - dwd.helpdesk@eionet.europa.eu.

In case of questions concerning this reporting exercise, please do not hesitate to contact DG Environment, Anna Marczak, Anna.MARCZAK@ec.europa.eu, phone: +32 2 296 36 67.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and look forward to your replies.
