Abstract:

EU Member States, in accordance with the Governance Regulation 2018/1999, must report on progress made towards achieving their National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs). Reporting is made every second year since 2023. The EEA/ETC prepares a quality assurance of data submitted by MS to ensure highest levels of data quality for the European Commission’s assessment. This report provides an overview of the data reported and quality assurance processes undertaken by the EEA/ETC in the year 2025 for the topic of additional reporting obligations in the area of energy efficiency. It finally provides recommendations to EEA/ETC on improvements for this process that can be made for the future reporting cycle in 2027.
